Visitor Policy

As Childminders we provide care in a family home and occasionally we may have visitors to the house whilst providing care. In accordance with our Safeguarding Children procedure we will:

  • Keep a record of visitors who come into our childminding premises.
  • Not allow people whose suitability has not been checked to have unsupervised contact with children who are being cared for by us.
  • Ask for identification of anyone we do not know.
  • Visitors to the house will be required to leave any mobile phone, laptop or camera that they have with them in a safe place away from the children or in their car and if they need to use their phone they will need to do this away from the minded children. (in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy)
  • For visitors who are friends or relatives, we will introduce the children to them as appropriate.
  • Try to ensure no tradesmen call at the house during childminding hours unless required for repairs needed for health and safety. At no time shall any minded child be alone with a tradesman.
  • As Childminders we are committed in ensuring that all children are safeguarded whilst in our care and expect visitors and contractors to maintain our responsibilities in the following way.
      • Show your identity badge to us or our assistant and be patient whilst these are checked before letting into the premises
      • Follow instructions by ourselves of areas of the house which you are permitted to access
      • Treat children with respect, ensuring the needs of the child is priority
      • To be respectful to all ourselves and members of the household, parents and others in the setting
      • Respect children’s personal space and privacy; particularly in toilet areas
      • Report to ourselves if there is concerns of conduct about anyone in the house or the children’s wellbeing
  • Visitors and Contractors are requested not to:
      • Shout, discipline, pick up or carry a child.
      • Make a child sit on your lap or to give a cuddle. Children must be respected at all times
      • Use inappropriate language, aggressive or threatening behaviour either verbally or in writing
      • Take photographs or videos of children, unless prior consent arranged by ourselves
      • Ensure all tools, bags and other equipment is unattended or within reach of children
