What specialist services and expertise are available at or accessed by the early years setting?
We both have had training and experience in replacing gastrostomy buttons, using nasal and gastrostomy tubes to feed via bolus or feeding pump.
We have had training in using epipens, inhalers and spacers and also in cardiac resuscitation with a defibrillator which we have on the premises (adult and child fitments).
We have experience working with children with learning disabilities, global developmental delay, balance and coordination issues, speech and language disorder, feeding difficulties, tube feeding, giving medication, hypermobility, social and behavioural difficulties, incontinence and bowel issues, medical conditions and hearing difficulties.
We have experience of supporting children with hearing aids, we have a t-loop fitted in the lounge and have experience in changing batteries, unblocking and re-tubing hearing aids.
We have followed and implemented programs of therapy advised by professionals.
We have experience of working with the following professionals and agencies;
Child Development Clinic, Speech and Language Therapist, CAMHS, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Incontinence Nurses, Dieticians, Community Paediatric Nurses, Metabolic Specialists and Nurses, Social Workers, Childcare professionals and Riding for the Disabled therapy.
I can access advice from the FIRST team, Children’s Access Point, Childcare support coordinator, Local Children and Family Centres, Ofsted and PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years) of whom I am a member.
